Q&A
1. Does the SafeSound hearing protector (that is supplied in combination with a SoloCom earphone) have an attenuation filter or is the attenuation in the earphone in de SafeSound?
(A.) Two SafeSound hearing protectors with attenuating filter are supplied with every SoloCom earphone. When you connect the SoloCom earphone to a hearing protector, it replaces the filter. The earphone seals off the surrounding noise as much as possible to enable speech to be understood to the full.
2. Why does the SafeSound shut out everything with the SoloCom?
(A.) The SoloCom is intended to enable you ‘to hear what is said properly’. If this combination were to allow surrounding noise through, it would be at the expense of being able to understand speech. The result, furthermore, would be that users would increase the volume with the risk of damaging their hearing.
3. I work in a plant that uses noisy machines and I’d like to communicate with my colleagues by radio phones. Have you a solution for this?
(A.) A SafeSound hearing protector in combination with SoloCom earphone is ideal for this. The SoloCom is connected through the radio phone handset.
4. Why is there no microphone on the SoloCom for a radio phone?
(A.) To limit the strain the SoloCom places on the hearing protector as much as possible, the SoloCom is fitted with a relatively thin and particularly lightweight cable. Radio phone connections are fitted with relatively large, heavy connectors, designed for ‘thick’ cables. The two cannot be combined. Separate handsets are available for most radio phones to which the SoloCom can be connected with a smaller connector. The advantage of this is that the SoloCom cabling is less obstructive.
5. Can I use the SoloCom in combination with my MP3 player?
(A.) The volume emanating from the SoloCom is not limited. That is why the SoloCom may not be used to listen to the MP3 player on your mobile phone, for example. It is a product intended to enable maximum communication in work-related situations.
6. Can a cord be attached to every type of hearing protector?
(A.) We supply a cord with the Compact FlexComfort and ClearSound as a standard accessory. A cord is available as an option for the other types, apart from the SafeSound. It is still in development.
